Game Server VDS Hosting
Run your game server on a Ryzen VDS of your own: you install the Minecraft, FiveM, CS2, Rust or Hytale server and choose its version, mods and plugins. Your server runs in Istanbul, and its traffic passes through TRSHIELD DDoS protection at no extra cost.

Pick your game
Each game's server requirements, package sizing and TRSHIELD profile are covered on its own page.
Minecraft: Java and Bedrock
You choose between Java Edition and Bedrock, and between Paper for plugins or Fabric and Forge for mods. TRSHIELD has separate profiles for each edition and for Simple Voice Chat.
FXServer and txAdmin for FiveM
You install FXServer, txAdmin and a framework such as ESX or QBCore, together with a MariaDB database, on your own VDS. FiveM traffic is filtered by a game-specific TRSHIELD profile.
CS2: SteamCMD and GSLT
You install the server with SteamCMD and get a GSLT from Steam so other players can join; game mode and plugins are up to you. CS2 has a game-specific TRSHIELD profile, and Source and GoldSrc games such as CS:GO and CS 1.6 are covered by ready-made profiles too.
Rust: maps, wipes and plugins
Map size, wipe days, Oxide or Carbon: you decide how your Rust server runs. Game, query, RCON and Rust+ traffic all go through a single TRSHIELD profile.
Hytale: a server in early access
You set the server up yourself with Java and authenticate it with your Hytale account on first launch; as the game is in early access, its requirements may change. Hytale traffic is filtered by TRSHIELD's generic game protection profile.
Why do DDoS attacks target game servers?
Players connect to your server by an IP address or a domain name, and that address is public on server lists and in Discord announcements. Because game traffic flows in real time, even a short attack can drop players from the server or make the game stutter. Rivalry between servers, or a grudge held by a banned player, can also be behind an attack.
With 12 Tbps of capacity, TRSHIELD filters attack traffic at L3, L4 and L7 on its own, and the latency it adds to your game traffic stays under 1 millisecond. Game-specific profiles validate connections against the game's own protocol, while generic game protection checks packet structure. Ready-made profiles cover other games as well: Garry's Mod, Terraria, SCP: Secret Laboratory, GTA SA-MP, Valheim, Arma and DayZ.
TRSHIELD protects against all known attack vectors and is continuously improved. If there is no ready-made profile for your game, we develop custom protection on request; tell our support team which game you run.
Why does ping matter?
Ping is the time it takes for data to travel from a player's device to the server and back, measured in milliseconds. As ping rises, a player's inputs reach the server later and the result shows up on screen later; players feel this as delay or stutter. In fast-paced shooters the delay shows sooner than in slower games.
Packet loss and jitter, the variation in that time, also hurt gameplay. Ping depends largely on the distance between player and server, the network route the data takes and the player's own connection; of these, distance is the one you choose. Your VDS is hosted at Mars Istanbul Data Center, a carrier-neutral facility.
Before you rent, use the Ping Test to measure your latency to our Istanbul servers. Send the link to your players too, so each of them sees their own result.
What drives resource needs?
Two servers for the same game can need very different resources: what sets the requirement is less the game itself than how your server is configured and how many players join at once.
- Players and entities
- The more players online at once, and the more NPCs, animals and vehicles in the world, the higher the CPU load.
- World size
- As players spread out to explore distant areas, the server keeps a larger area in memory. In Rust you choose the map size, and a larger map needs more memory and disk.
- Mods, plugins and scripts
- Mods and plugins in Minecraft and resources in FiveM add to the work the server does on every step. A package that suits a plain server may not be enough for a modpack.
- Tick rate
- The server updates the game world in a set number of steps per second, called ticks. When each step carries more work, the server cannot keep that pace and players see stutter; in games that let you set the tick rate, raising it also raises CPU load.
Why run it on your own VDS?
On a VDS, how the server runs after setup is your call, just like the setup itself.
When to update
When the game updates, you decide whether to update the server right away or wait until your mods and plugins are compatible. Plugin frameworks such as Oxide for Rust also need their own update after every server update.
Scheduled tasks
Schedule restarts, updates and Rust wipes around your community's hours with cron or Windows Task Scheduler.
Files and logs
You have direct access to configuration files, server logs and the world folder: you look for the cause of a crash in the logs, and you can download your world at any time and move it to another server.
Side services
As long as CPU and memory allow, you run your Discord bot, a web map or a second game server on the same VDS; each one uses its own port.
Console, graphs and firewall
- When the server crashes or stops responding, connect to its console from your browser and restart it if needed.
- Watch CPU and memory usage on graphs as your player base grows, and get an email when usage climbs.
- Open your game ports in the firewall using the ready-made profile that fits your game.
